Name: Stefan Damer

Stefan Damer is a judge born and living in Germany, recognized by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) and the VDH (Verband für das Deutscche Hundewesen), the parent kennel club of Germany, equivalent of the Canadian Kennel Club. He worked as a mine engineer until his retirement in 2014.
He started to breed Hovawarts in 1998 under the kennel name of “vom Gut Grone”, as a member of HZD (Hovawart Zuchtgemeinschaft Deutschland e.V. gegr. 1959), second largest Hovawart club in Germany.
As an accredited dog trainer, he has been conducting temperament tests for the HZD since 2003. In 2013, he was accredited as a Hovawart judge by the VDH and the FCI. Since 2017, he is also accredited to judge the Irish Wolfhound breed and he is currently in training for other dog breeds, namely the Sloughi and the Afghan Hound, part of FCI Group 10 Sighthounds.

Since 2013, he has judged in several countries such as Germany, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Slovakia, the USA and the Czech Republic.
He was President of the HZD from 2014 to 2017 and has also joined the RZV (Rassezuchtverein für Hovawart-Hunde eV) in 2018.
